France Football is set to reveal the identity of the best player on the planet, with a 30-man shortlist being narrowed down to just one winner

The identity of the best player on the planet for 2017 is set to be revealed, with the prestigious Ballon d’Or being bestowed by France Football.

The usual suspects are expected to compete for the grandest of prizes, with the cream continuing to rise to the top.

Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo is looking to secure himself a fifth crown, and if successful he will draw level with eternal rival Lionel Messi of Barcelona.

There are, however, 30 performers to run through, with the leading lights of the global game seeing their achievements over the course of the last 12 months recognised.
