Despite not having his best legs, the People’s Elephant’s gaffer has urged his team to put in their very best to their season opener
Enyimba coach Paul Aigbogun has challenged his players to start the season brightly as they face Lobi Stars in Makurdi on Sunday.
The People’s Elephant lost five of their key players, including two goalkeepers, to the African Nations Championship which started on Saturday in Morocco while they are also faced with injuries to a key players.
“It is a difficult situation we are in with five of our players in the CHAN team and with some of our other players yet to return from injuries but we must put that aside if we are to do well in the league and other competition we are taking part in this season,” Aigbogun told Goal .

“Even though the overall objective is to ensure that we do well at the end of the season but it is imperative for us to begin the season with a statement that we are ready for the season in spite of the hiccup we are having.
“I expect my players to play their best for us to avoid defeat on the opening day of the season. Makurdi is a tough ground to visit in the first game of the season but I trust my players to get the job done irrespective of the challenges before them.”
Enyimba have Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Theophilus Afelokhai, Ikouwem Udoh, Austin Oladapo and Ibrahim Mustapha in the CHAN Eagles setup, while Dare Ojo, Mfon Udoh and Joseph Osadaiye are among players that are yet to fully recover from injuries.
