– The Independent National Electoral Commission has released a full list of governorship candidates for the forthcoming governorship election in the state.

– The governorship election holds on July 14, 2018

– The candidates running for the office of governor are forty in number

Full list of candidates that will participate in the Ekiti governorship election has been released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The Election and Political Party Monitoring Department of the commission released the schedule of election on Wednesday, May 16, Channels reports.

NAIJ.com notes that the shortlisted candidates emerged from their party’s primaries held for the election that is scheduled to hold on July 14, 2018.

The minister of solid minerals development, Dr Kayode Fayemi, is the governorship flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) while the incumbent deputy governor of the state, Professor Kolapo Olusola, is the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com previously reported that the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), John Odigie-Oyegun, declared on Monday, March 19, that the forthcoming governorship election in Ekiti is a ‘must-win’ for his party as he visited the state.

Oyegun, who was in the state on membership drive, reportedly addressed leaders and members of the party in the state at an interactive forum emphasising that the party would deploy every available resource to win the election which holds on July 14.
